What is skin slackening ?
All body parts lose tone over time and this is perfectly normal !
Sagging skin affects many areas of the body.
Whether it is the arms, abdomen, flanks, knees, thighs or buttocks, with time and certain lifestyle habits, the skin loses its elasticity, volume and density.
What are the main causes of sagging skin (skin slackening) on our body?
Check out the most common below :
Bad lifestyle habits
Tobacco, alcohol, stress, lack of physical exercise, diet rich in sugars… We know that our lifestyle habits have a direct impact on our health, but also on our skin. In order to promote the production of collagen and elastin and to allow our skin to better protect itself against external aggressions (UV rays, wind, pollution…), it is essential to pay special attention to our lifestyle!
During rapid weight gain and loss, such as dieting or pregnancy, the elastic fibers are stretched and then quickly released. The skin loses its firmness and becomes visibly less toned and firm.
Sun exposure, especially if not accompanied by UV protection, leads to an increase in melanin production, a reduction in collagen and elastin production, a thickening of certain areas of the skin and clearly favors skin dryness. Gradually, the structure of the skin changes and it becomes visibly less firm.
Adequate levels of estrogen, testosterone and progesterone, among others, are necessary for proper tissue function. A dysfunction or imbalance in the levels of these hormones accentuates skin dehydration and therefore, loss of tone.
