What are thin lips ?
Particularly sensitive to the aging process, lips lose their volume and become thinner over time. The philtrum ridges (small relief located between the nose and the mouth) and the cupid’s bow progressively flatten, while small irregularities of color may also occur.
Why are our lips getting thinner and thinner?
Check out the most common cause of thin lips below :
The natural aging process
As the skin ages, the natural production of collagen and elastin slows down and cell renewal decreases: the lip contour is less well defined, the color of the lips becomes lighter and their volume thinner.
Sun exposure, especially if not accompanied by UV protection, leads to an alteration in the production of melanin, collagen and elastin, and clearly favors the drying of the lips. Their tone is then diminished, their pigmentation altered and their volume reduced.
Nicotine consumption impairs the assimilation of vitamins A and C, which are essential for good blood circulation, and reduces the production of collagen and elastin. Cellular renewal is thus damaged and the skin becomes drier and more sensitive to external aggressions. Gradually, the lips become thinner and their color fades.
Can we treat thin lips to give them more volume ?
Yes it’s possible. In addition, with the right techniques, you will get a result that looks more natural (obviously, you should not overdo it).
If you would like to become a volumizer (fillers and botox) injection specialist, you shoud take one our training courses about injections. You can apply to this course online and follow it through one of our schools across Canada.
